Osteopathy is an independent, holistic healing practice in which diagnosis and therapy are performed exclusively manually. It aims to uncover the causes of ailments and treat the whole person. More than 140 years ago, the American physician Andrew Taylor Still, after extensive research, developed the fundamental principles of osteopathy, thus laying the foundation for a new medical discipline. Since then, osteopathy has continued to evolve.

Osteopathy is based on the concept of the body's own self-healing powers and self-regulation. Many illnesses and disorders arise from an impairment of these abilities. This is where osteopathy comes in, by activating the body's self-healing powers. Every tissue and every organ needs sufficient freedom of movement to function optimally. The goal of osteopathic treatments is to release blockages and tension in the tissues and thus restore mobility. Osteopaths always seek the causes of complaints and do not simply treat individual symptoms in isolation. Rather, they focus on identifying and treating the triggers of problems, such as restricted movement.

Osteopathy is considered an independent form of medicine, and therefore osteopathic treatment approaches have been developed for a wide range of conditions. In our practice, specialized therapists work with patients to treat various conditions. These include problems and pain in the musculoskeletal system, especially in athletes. We also offer osteopathy specifically for pregnant women, infants, and young children. Various ear, nose, and throat (ENT) disorders (e.g., tinnitus, vertigo, migraines) and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders (e.g., teeth grinding or clenching) are also common issues among our patients. These questions cannot be answered generally, as we tailor our treatments to your individual needs and the reason for treatment. An osteopathic treatment typically lasts between 30 and 50 minutes.

For most problems, initial improvements are often seen after just 1 to 3 treatments. Chronic conditions usually require longer treatment than acute conditions.

Yes, to avoid waiting times and ensure a smooth practice flow, we only treat patients by appointment. You can book an appointment online or by phone. Please note that due to often limited appointment availability, an optimal treatment plan can only be implemented if you schedule your first three appointments on consecutive weeks.

Osteopaths primarily use mobilizing, manipulative, activating, calming, and balancing techniques, mainly performed with their hands. They examine the parietal system (musculoskeletal system, bones, joints), the visceral system (internal organs), the craniosacral system (skull, brain, meninges, sacrum), and the fascial system (muscles, ligaments, fascia, connective tissue, arteries, veins, and lymphatic vessels). They often combine different techniques, with the patient's condition and goals being the deciding factors.

At your first appointment, a comprehensive medical history will be taken and a thorough examination will be performed. The treatment itself is painless and consists of gentle manipulations to release tension and improve jaw function.

Before the treatment: Wear comfortable clothing and avoid large meals immediately before your appointment.

After the treatment: Give your body time to adjust, avoid strenuous activities, drink plenty of water and pay attention to any changes which you should inform your therapist.

To be optimally prepared for your physiotherapy appointment, you should wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Since certain areas of the body will be exposed depending on the treatment, we recommend clothing that is easy to put on and take off, such as a T-shirt and athletic pants. We also ask that you bring your own towel or sheet to use on the treatment table during the session. If you have any medical reports, X-rays, or previous findings, please bring them with you to the appointment so that the therapist can get a complete picture of your condition.

As an appointment-based practice, we reserve this appointment exclusively for you. Should you fail to appear for your appointment, we reserve the right to charge you a cancellation fee equal to the treatment costs, in accordance with Section 615 of the German Civil Code (BGB).

Please note that this treatment is a self-pay service. Private health insurance companies typically cover the costs. Those with statutory health insurance may receive a subsidy for several consultations per year, depending on their insurance provider. Please contact your health insurance company for information on the requirements and amount of reimbursement. The cost per session is based on the German fee schedule for alternative practitioners (GebüH) and ranges from €98 to €150.

Physiotherapy can relieve the muscles and joints of the temporomandibular joint, reduce pain and restore function through targeted manual techniques and exercises.

Osteopathy is considered an independent healthcare service for which a doctor's referral is not necessary. Patients can visit an osteopath directly to arrange treatment without consulting a doctor beforehand. However, your doctor, regardless of their specialty, can also issue a referral or recommendation for osteopathic treatment.

Most private health insurance companies, government assistance programs, and private supplemental insurance plans partially or fully reimburse the costs of osteopathic treatments. To find out if your private health insurance, government assistance program, or supplemental insurance covers osteopathy, please contact your insurer or check your policy documents for relevant benefits. Certain conditions may need to be met to receive reimbursement, so it is advisable to inquire about the specific terms and conditions beforehand.

Osteopathic treatments can take some time, during which the body needs to readjust and heal. Our therapists will gladly provide you with suitable exercises and tips to support your healing at home.

After an osteopathic treatment, there are certain measures you can take to support the success of the treatment and minimize potential discomfort.

1. Drink plenty of water: After the treatment, drink an additional 1 to 2 liters of water to support the stimulated metabolic processes and help the body detoxify.

2. Light exercise: Take a short walk of 10-15 minutes. This can help to gently mobilize the body and promote blood circulation.

3. Rest and relaxation: Allow your body sufficient time to rest after the treatment to give it enough time to regenerate. Avoid strenuous physical activity and sports on the day of the treatment to prevent overexertion and support healing.

4. Self-observation: Pay attention to changes in your body and your well-being after the treatment. Note any improvements or discomfort that arises, so you can discuss them with the osteopath at your next appointment.

5. Implement the advice and tips from your therapist to achieve the best possible treatment outcome.

Many statutory health insurance companies partially reimburse osteopathic treatments. To find out if your health insurance company specifically subsidizes osteopathy, please contact them. Partial reimbursement by statutory health insurance companies usually requires a written medical recommendation. This can be in the form of a referral or a private prescription from your doctor.
